November 23-24: Haifa Joins International Campaign – Buy Nothing Day
Buy Nothing Day (BND) is an international day of protest against consumerism. It was founded in Vancouver, Canada by artist Ted Dave in 1992 as a day for society to examine the issue of over-consumption.
Since then the campaign became popular in North America, the United Kingdom, Finland and Sweden. Today more than 65 nations support the initiative including Israel.
BND is not all about protesting, it is also about educating, raising awareness about the issues of over-consumption and bringing people together based on the connection free from buying and selling interaction. Each year BND activists organize different public events in their local communities.
It is a day that that reconnects the community and the family. Spend a day in nature or with dear ones instead of shopping malls or online shops is the main message of the BND supporters.
Haifa community will also organize various events dedicated to the causes of the BND campaign from November 23 to 24, 2018.
